Nicodemus Inspirations:

As you can see, Nicodemus inspires not only me but many people. When we think about inspiration, what inspires us most are ordinary people who have done extraordinary things. We appreciate when someone has extra ordinary ability and willingness to be selfless, creative, innovative, or just to be different.

Therefore, when leaders or ordinary people decide that the world needs their help they show extraordinary willingness to do uncommon things. Such are true leaders who believed that they could change the world and who, despite nearly impossible odds and tremendous opposition, aren’t afraid to try. The like of Nicodemus are Mother Teresa, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr of our time who took uncommon steps to address humanitarian issues.

As a matter of fact, the beautiful thing about inspiration of this kind is that “ordinary” part. As you can see, each of these people had that charismatic ability to lead others to better things They managed to surmount their mountains not simply because they were great leaders, but because they were not afraid to be who they were. They were authentic.

SO,  IF YOU WERE NICODEMUS!

If you were Nicodemus, would you have taken such bold steps he took. Today, Nicodemus is considered an inspiration to many for taking a simple step of meeting Jesus for certain clarifications. Too many of us fail to see the greatness within ourselves. Too many of us assume that a person is only great if he/she makes national headlines.

In fact, sometimes the most inspiring people in the world go completely unnoticed. What inspires are the people who do something to better humanity in their own small corner of the world. They don’t need headlines or accolades. They need only to know that they stepped up to make things better.

Who was Nicodemus in the Bible?

John Chapter 3 vs 1 – 21
1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
Nicodemus was a ruler of the Jews. Nicodemus behaved like a business man. He took steps to enhance his knowledge by visiting Jesus not withstanding his position in the society.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

AND IF YOU WERE NICODEMUS!

15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

NICODEMUS INSPIRES:

Now let us look at this man Nicodemus business-wise and associate his behaviour with what is expected of you in your business.

Nicodemus was a ruler of the Jews. At today’s standing, a Bishop. I bet you that Many of you today would not do what Nicodemus did because of your social status. Remember, he was a teacher of the Jews , and Jesus was one too. He was able to notice the difference between two of them. If this move was to see a mentor, I want to is ask, do you have a mentor in your business. In your business plan, there are issues of coaching and competitiveness, Nicodemus knew this. If you take care of this your business will prosper.

Then notice his question in verse two “and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him”. Hard confession! Can you do that in your business circle?

The Answers

And now see the type of answer he received, in verse three “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. By this answer today most of us would have felt insulted. Nicodemus was a humble ruler/man. The issue is, if your pastor/business mentor answers you like that, would you come back to him/ the church service next time.I attended a church service somewhere in Abuja recently, and the message was so fine, emphasis was on how to make money and prosper. It was like an economic Summit. I know that many churches are like this these days especially in our big cities. I called it an economic summit because the economic element of the message was about 90% of the entire message. You see, this is my own idea. A very good sermon.

Nicodemus Visits in the Bible:

He first visited Jesus one night to discuss Jesus’ teachings (John 3:1–21).
The second time Nicodemus is mentioned, he reminded his colleagues in the Sanhedrin that the law requires that a person be heard before being judged (John 7:50–51).click here

Finally, Nicodemus appeared after the Crucifixion of Jesus to provide the customary embalming spices, and assisted Joseph of Arimathea in preparing the body of Jesus for burial (John 19:39–42).
